The Lokniketan provides sports facilities in various games of which most are centralized and some at the hostels. The following games are available in the lokniketan and are controlled & organized by the institute.
Athletics, Badminton, Cricket, Chess, Football, Mountaineering and Trekking, Archery, Swimming, Volley ball, Mass PT Parade, Weight –Power Lifting, Bench Press, Body Building and Yoga.
The coach is also the link between the students and the head office. Regular practice and annual competitions, Inter Hostel and Inter School competitions are held each year.
Facilities for coaching and instruction are available in weight Lifting, body building activities, Archery, and Yoga round the year. The Institute makes all efforts to encourage students for participating in sports by organizing various sports, other related events and the participation of students in the extra murals etc. with the help of the respective club coach. As per the requirements the head office proposes development and maintenance of sports infrastructure on the campus to the concerned section of the Lokniketan. The Sports complex comprises of a Sports Stadium with large open seating for spectators, a Yoga hall, Weight Lifting and Power Lifting hall and open space for games like Cricket, Football, Athletics, and Volleyball etc.
Athletics
The sport of athletics is a collection of sporting events that involve competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking.
Archery
Archery is the sport, practice or skill of using a bow to propel arrows. The word comes from the Latin arcus. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity. A person who participates in archery is typically called an archer or a bowman, and a person who is fond of or an expert at archery is sometimes called a toxophilite.
Mountaineering and Trekking
The term mountaineering describes the sport of mountain climbing, including ski mountaineering. Hiking in the mountains can also be a simple form of mountaineering when it involves scrambling, or short stretches of the more basic grades of rock climbing, as well as crossing glaciers. Trek may refer to: Backpacking (wilderness), also known as trekking.
Weight lifting, Power lifting & Body building
Weight training is a common type of strength training for developing the strength andsize of skeletal muscles. It utilizes the force of gravity in the form of weighted bars, dumbbells or weight stacks in order to oppose the force generated by muscle through concentric or eccentric contraction.
Power lifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and dead lift.
Bodybuilding is the use of progressive resistance exercise to control and develop one’smusculature. An individual who engages in this activity is referred to as a bodybuilder.
Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.
Football
Football is a family of team sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking aball to score a goal.
Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock acrossa net.
Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a cricket field, at the centre of which is a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch with a wicket, a set of three wooden stumps sited at each end.
Yoga
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practiceor discipline which originated in ancient India.
The Lokniketan makes all efforts to popularize and introduce new sports on campus as well. The sports nutrition, physical fitness, sports injuries management, career counseling in sports and sports specific skill development programs are held on need basis in groups and individual. In this direction sports festival & Sports Awareness Programs for the otherwise ambled, Inter institutional and friendly competitions are mooted and organized periodically to give a boost to the Lokniketan sports and games. Besides worthy use of leisure time and physical and mental fitness sports and games activities are planned to give joyful experience to Lokniketan students and sports leadership qualities.
